Soft Cover. First edition, not stated. 328 pgs., 8vo. Paperbound ASSOCIATION COPY which is accompanied by a posthumously distributed photographic card showing the author, and having a printed gift letter (with handwritten note to this recipient) from the author's wife, who sent out copies of the book, which was issued shortly after his death. This is the story of the vagabond life led by 2 Vermont farmers, shortly after the end of World War II, until the 1950s, much taking place in Scandinavia, Paris and Europe. As an occupation Edwards eventually became a film-maker of "shorts", non-fiction writer, and photographer. He settled down (a bit) in later years in Eagle Bridge, NY, a hamlet south of the NY Adirondacks and west of Vermont, but a country setting amidst the natural beauty of the land, lakes and nearby mountains. His writing here is strongly based on imaginative dialogue between the characters, a story-teller's view of the wayward life the pair led in post-war Europe. Like most such reminiscences, it may have grown in stature with the humor and joys of re-telling. He becomes as the book proceeds certainly a very cosmopolitan free spirit, whom we as readers would love to meet." New condition, with personal note card sent to friends at time of publication. A mint copy, as-new, no sign of reading or creasing usage.
