Original maroon cloth lettered in gilt with decoration in silvery grey. 253pp text + 2 catalogues at rear, announcing the present title as 'in rapid preparation' and due for publication on Dec. 1st 1894. This copy has an original ownership inscription on the front pastedown from Xmas 1894. Minor rubbing to extremities, a few of the uncut leaves slightly roughly opened but no loss to text, but a good to very good copy.

Translated from the Swedish by the New Woman writer George Egerton (Mary Chevelita Dunne), the author of 'Keynotes,' which gave its name to the series published by Allen Lane, and designed by Aubrey Beardsley, who designed the title page here too. Tissue guard present here, which seems to have promoted some foxing here. Remainder of text a little age toned, but no foxing -- pages clean. Recently rebounded in red-cloth and hand printed art paper, green and gold label to spine. Boards sharp-cornered, binding tight and square. John Lane's catalogue for 1895 present, at back of book. Hansson was one of the principal Nietzschean influences upon Egerton's writings.
