Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Original publisher's beige wrappers with staple binding. May 1913. 6 1/2" x 9 3/4." 101 pages, complete. One black and white frontispiece, a facsimile page Pedro Fages's diary, complete. Some pages are unopened. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Slight chipping and wear at the edges of the covers. There are some closed tears at the edge of the back cover and a few of the back pages; the largest of these measures 1 1/2." Tears do not affect text. A Very Good copy. "Berkeley: The University Press" is printed on the copyright page. An Extract from the Constitution of the Academy of Pacific Coast History and a list of officers who are part of the academy are printed on the inside of the front cover. A list of Publications of the Academy of Pacific Coast History for Volumes 1, 2, and 3 is printed on the inside of the back cover. Pedro Fages (1734-1734) was a Spanish explorer, soldier, and the 2nd and 5th Governor of Alta California. Herbert Ingram Priestley (1875-1944) was an American historian and professor whose specialization was the study of Spanish-American and Mexican-American history. He also served as Director of the Bancroft Library following the retirement of historian Herbert Bolton and held this position until his passing in 1944.

Original publisher's beige paper wrappers with staple binding. Text printed in black ink. July 1911. 6" x 9 1/4." Nineteen pages (Pages 143-159), complete. Pages are very clean and intact except for light age toning, a faint dampstain in lower corner of fore-edge appearing throughout entire pamphlet, and a "Medford Historical Society" stamp and brief numerical inscription in black ink limited to top margins of title page and first page of Introduction. Covers are very clean and intact except for a few tiny stains, slightly bumped corners, a split measuring 1" at tail of spine, and a "Medford Historical Society" stamp and brief numerical inscription in black ink limited to top margin on front. A Very Good copy. This is a bilingual reprint of a diary kept by Pedro Fages during his hitherto unknown 1770 expedition to San Francisco Bay. Introduction by Herbert Eugene Bolton.
