Decorative Cloth. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Harrison Fisher (illustrator). This novel takes place in Europe, starting in Paris, then Prague, and Brussels. It is the story of a woman, Francezka, who marries her love; he disappears and she then marries his brother. Then her first husband, who she still loves, reappears after several years. Because she can not go to him, she drowns herself in the lake. This must have been a controversial book in its time! It consists of 457 pages with several beautiful black and white illustrations by Harrison Fisher, all of them signed. The condition is good. The pages are clean, free of all marks and tears. Several of the pages have been stamped by a notary public in Tulsa, OK, possibly testing their stamp? The binding is tight The light green cloth cover has a decorative front in dark green, black and red. The spine is stamped in black. There is only minor shelf wear with slight fraying on one corner. But the pale green cloth is quite soiled on the front. The edges of the pages are dusty.
