Library stamps and card pocket inside. Hinges starting to crack, but pages remain securely attached, and text itself unmarked. A good copy for reading and reference. Lists the letters exchanged between 18th-century British naval officers Edward Vernon and Charles Wager, which are a source of information on English expeditions in the West Indies during this period. Measures approx. 10.75" x 7.5".

The correspondence came to LC through Peter Force and "covers a very interesting period in the history of the English operations in the West Indies," including the expeditions against Cartagena and Cuba, with much relating to the slave trade, piracy, and the American colonies. McCleary was a Representative from Minnesota in the U.S. Congress (1893-1907).
