There is no publishing date, but a letter from Mark Twain dated 1896 is quoted, So I'm guessing that the book came out some time around that time. This is the IMPERIAL EDITION. There are over 500 photo illustrations. There are 24 chapters relating to India as it was over 100 years ago - including a chapter on the Indian Army which is quite interesting - Plus chapters on Burma and Ceylon. The photos are wonderful and capture the exotic nature of the country. Very worthwhile owning.
