I was a girl." Sally's rise, from seal of Brooklyn to Paris boudoir, is one of the great success stories of our time, and a perfect spoof on all unexpurgated memoirs of elegant ladies on their ways up and down. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. INSCRIBED to Ross Hunter (film producer) and Jacque Mapes (film & tv producer) on front flyleaf: "New York / 15th May 1964 / To Ross - Jacque - / With admiration and /all the best to you both from Sally / and me - Ever / Gant" and then with addition "P.S. Mr. Hunter - you arer the one! / yours / Sally" followed by a diagonal and a tiny drawing of a crown. The book has bumped corners and spine ends and is otherwise fine. The jacket has a small chip out at bottom of spine and some short tears at top edge and one 1 1/2" tear at bottom of front panel; also, the spine is mildly faded. Not price-clipped. . The book describes itself as a "fairy tale for ADULTS ONLY" though I found the book both innocuous. I gather it is sort of a parody of some sort; perhaps a more informed reader will enlighten me. Gant Gaither wrote a biography of Princess Grace Kelly (and the story in some ways seems to vaguely relate to her, though it also vaguely seems to be based on the story/musical, GIGI) and worked as a Broadway and film producer, playwright, and stage designer. Inscribed by Author(s). Book.
