Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. First Edition. 16, DLXXXIV; [iv] CCCLII; [viii] DLXVIII, 102 [i] pp. With alphabetical index. Entirely in Latin. Full page engraved plate showing the Personification of Rome before title in Vol. I and Vol. III, both volumes with red and black title page with engraved device and half title. Full vellum of the time with red marble decorated edges, cream and gold spine labels which are aged. Vol. II has half title but no title, plate or blank. Vol. II last few leaves have darkened and paper is cracking and thinned there, sometimes affecting text. Vellum has normal wear and age, library spine marks, Vol. I the vellum on the spine has a 2" crack in the middle, otherwise vellum is just lightly rubbed and worn at the edges. Interior normal foxing and age, institutional library marks but otherwise clean and unmarked. Surprisingly scarce. Galletti (1724-1790) was a Benedictine scholar and archeologist . His collections of inscriptions -- including this set -- were authoritative and long considered the prime source of historical information. Not a perfect example but still quite nice, handsome and usable. Very heavy for international shipping. Please enquire about rates. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall.
