Pueblos of the Rio Grande is an authoritative and colorful travelers guide to the nineteen venerable pueblos of New Mexico. Written in consultation with pueblo community elders, this book celebrates the cultural diversity and enduring values of Acoma, Cochiti, Isleta, Jemez, Laguna, Namb, Picuris, Pojoaque, Taos, Tesuque, San Felipe, San Ildefonso, San Juan, Sandia, Santa Ana, Santa Clara, Santa Domingo, Zia, and Zuni. Cultural identity and artistry are vividly expressed by skilled Pueblo potters, silversmiths, fetish carvers, basket makers, and painters, whose finest works are highly sought-after by discerning art buyers worldwide. Daniel Gibson provides first-time visitors and experienced Indian art collectors alike with a wealth of trip-planning information, including the arts and crafts traditions distinct to each pueblo, annual celebrations open to the public, proper etiquette and attire, and photography restrictions.

Stapled Wraps. Condition: USED_NEARFINE. Neil Austin, Cindy (Smith), Joe Gross, Alan Hunter, Ralph Rayburn Phillips, Dave Hammond (illustrator). First Edition. New York: Ronald L. Smith, 1955. First edition. March, 1955 / issue number 8 under the name Inside and Science Fiction Advertiser (which is the last name for the famed sci-fi / fantasy fanzine, which was also published under the earlier names "Fantasy Advertiser" and "Science Fiction Advertiser", though the primary focus was always Science Fiction). Ron Smith became the Editor/Publisher with the November, 1954 issue, which was also the first under this name. Octavo, stapled illustrated wraps, 38 pp. Near Fine; thin peripheral toning (see scans). This March / 1955 issue was published as Ron Smith was in the process of improving the fanzine, which had been erratic in quality in prior years; 1956, yet to come, would be perhaps the best year. This issue features two sci-fi stories, The Ship and Son, a relative rarity for the article-oriented fanzine; and probably its finest collection of illustrations to this point in time - thanks to the efforts of art editor Cindy Smith. The art includes a Neil Austin cover, illustrating the story The Ship, and interior work by Austin, Cindy (Smith), Joe Gross, Alan Hunter, Ralph Rayburn Phillips, and Dave Hammond. Stories, articles and reviews (see scan of contents page) are by Joe Gibson, William L. Freeman, Bill Hamling, William F. Nolan, Charles E. Fritch, Joseph Slotkin, George Martindale, and Bob Tucker, as well as editor Ron Smith. A rarity, for the collector. l-pr1.
