Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. First Edition. A history and personal memoir of the 104th Squadron during the First World War covering 1917-1919. This copy (I assume originally a paperback? ) has been bound into green shiny boards (I presume by the former owner? ). No titling to the boards, but the book is in a clear library dustjacket into which the original red wraps (with black titling /black biplane decoration) have been put, simulating a d/j. As it has been bound as a hardcover by ? ( ? Binder/former owner ? ) - the wraps are somewhat smaller than the boards - but this 'pseudo d/j' does enhance its appearance - in my opinion. A little foxing/browning to the page fore-edges and the top edge particularly o/w NO Inscriptions or Marks. (vi) + 146 pp. Illustrated with a suite of b/w printed photographic plates, some featuring the original aerial photography, and other b/w illus. With a list of decorations won by squadron members, etc. " The 104th Aero Squadron was one of the American Observation Squadrons (taking part with the Allies during the latter half of the First World War) in Northern France in the fall of 1918. Most of its pilots were brave but certainly not fearless. One of them said years later 'As I look back I see us young kids, scared as hell, but still with the courage of ignorance. ! ' ". Quite Scarce - and a fascinating addition to the original source material of the First World War. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
