It is said of Dr. Goldstein that he has held more presidencies & served as a chairman than any other American Jew. This book contains a number of his addresses delivered during this period. The dust jacket is protected by a Mylar sleeve that is affixed to the boards. The book is inscribed by the author to Rabbi Bernard Mandelbaum, president from 1966 to 1971 of the Jewish Theological Seminary, the academic and spiritual center of Conservative Judaism. The author was the first American Jewish leader since the establishment of Medinat Israel to pull up his stakes from his native land & establish, with Mrs Goldstein, their new home in Israel. For 42 years the author was minister as the Rabbi of Congregation B'nai Jeshurum of New York, this was the second oldest congregation. Inscribed by Author(s).

Begun in 1825, B'nai Jeshurun was one of the oldest congregations in New York and badly in need of revitalization. Goldstein instituted late Friday evening services, expanded its school and educational outreach, and began the community center directed by Louis Levitsky. During his four decades of leadership, he established B'nai Jeshurun as a respected and progressive congregation. An ardent Zionist, Goldstein was president of the Jewish National Fund of America (1933¿43) , and vice president (1934¿43) and president (1943¿45) of the Zionist Organization of America, and enjoyed the reputation of an outstanding orator and administrator.
