Hardcover. No Jacket. This book has been recently rebound in burgandy leather with black leather title label on spine with gilt lettering. 576 pp. Illustrated by 73 engravings. No ownership or other markings. Scattered foxing and lacking the map else a nice copy of this book. Theo.
hardcover. Condition: Acceptable. Original boards as pictured, but the wear is different from the picture. This specific book has a small to medium (2 1/2"") crescent shaped piece of the leather missing from the front board. The front board also has some discoloration. Heavy shelfwear on edges. Spine is cracked and missing leather. The gilt is there and somewhat faded. Book is inscribed multiple times starting 1849. Map in front is torn out. The title page also appears to have been torn off and then pasted back over the tear. Pages are tanned and have some foxxing. Text is still clear and legible. Binding is becoming loose, the thread is visible inbetween two stacks. Fragile but fairly scarce book in original binding.
