Softcover / Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First edition. Softcover. In March 1957, Eastbourne doctor John Bodkin Adams was tried at the Old Bailey for the murder of Mrs Edith Alice Morrell. He pleaded not guilty, and was found not guilty. He was however, suspected of being responsible for probably 8 or 9 other deaths of elderly persons during his 35 years as a practitioner in Eastbourne, some of whom had bequeathed money and other valuable possessions to him. Although struck off the Medical Register for forging medical prescriptions, he continued to treat a few private patients. Dr. Adams was reinstated by the General Medical Council in 1961, and resumed his practice in Eastbourne where he died in 1983 aged 84. His estate was valued at over £400,000. Many observers believe Dr. Adams committed murder for gain, while others, more charitably, suggested he merely practised euthanasia. Illus., Index. 246pp. trade softcover. From the library of true crime writer, Wilfred Gregg, with his personal b/plate. With small crease to fr. cover o/w Vg+.
