Corners are bumped and showing some wear. Top page edges have $1.50 in ink. Here are some immortal verses which, heretofore, were reserved for stag parties. These pieces span a great many years some dating back to at least the early 1800s. The limereick is now a part of our literature. A highly disciplined verse form, commpact and clever, it tells a story in only five lines. Unlike most basic forms of english verse such as the sonnet and the trilet, the limerick was not borrowed from other countries but is indigenously English, perhaps the only form in poetry that can be claimed to an original English creation. the subjects treated by lthe anonymous authors of these stanzas run the enitre gamut of sexual actdivity. Fantasy has no limits, and many of these verses rise to heights of superlative exaggeration. Contents: Riddles, Limericks, Lexicon, Folk Rhymes, Responsa, Ribald Songs, Dicta, Quatrains, Graffiti, Verse, Parodies, and Miscellany. The Limerick, peculiar to English - In A Verse form that's hard to extinguish - Once Congress in Session - Decreed its suppression - But people got around it by writing the last line without any rhyme or meter. If you agree with that immortal dictum of John Keats that a dirty mind is a joy forever, then these pieces deserve preservation.
