Se trata de unas notas que pretenden recoger los conocimientos básicos sobre Topología General que los estudiantes del Grado en Matemáticas deben adquirir durante su formación. En su elaboración, los autores se han ayudado de la participación activa de los estudiantes, que sirviéndose de un blog de la asignatura previamente diseñado por los autores, han ido publicando sus propuestas para mejorar las notas, como la inclusión de ejemplos aclaratorios, guras ilustrativas, así como el desarrollo más detallado de algunos argumentos. El temario que aquí se recoge está dividido en cinco capítulos sobre Topología General propiamente dicha, más un apéndice final sobre Ordinales y Cardinales en el que tratamos con una cierta amplitud esta cuestión transversal y que, por tanto, admite diversos niveles de lectura según los intereses de cada persona. Al final de cada capítulo se ha incluido una colección de ejercicios cuya realización permitirá al lector familiarizarse con las nociones introducidas, aplicar los resultados obtenidos, así como desarrollar su capacidad para elaborar argumentos y construir contraejemplos. Estas notas se han basado en diversas fuentes: desde la experiencia docente de los autores y de otros compañeros del Departamento de Álgebra, Geometría y Topología de la Universidad de Málaga, hasta los numerosos textos consultados.
