Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. Shea, Tiffani (cover design) (illustrator). 1st Edition. As new condition white boards with black spine lettering contained in an as new condition color illustrated dust jacket. Includes Preliminary Page Quote by Frederick Douglass; Author Dedication; 1776 Unites Mission Statement; Foreword by Dr. Lucas E. Morel; Introduction: The Crucial Voice of "1776" by Robert L. Woodson, Sr.; Biographies of Contributing Authors; Endnotes and Acknowledgments. " "An indispensable corrective to the falsified version of black history presented by The 1619 Project, radical activists, and money-hungry "diversity consultants." In the rush to redefine the place of black Americans in contemporary society, many radical activists and academics have mounted a campaign to destroy traditional American history and replace it with a politicized version that few would recognize. According to the new radical orthodoxy, the United States was founded as a racist nation -- and everything that has happened throughout our history must be viewed through the lens of the systemic oppression of black people. Rejecting this false narrative, a collection of the most prominent and respected black scholars and thinkers has come together to correct the record and tell the true story of black Americans in all its complexity, diversity of experience, and poignancy. Collectively, they paint a vivid picture of black people living the grand American experience, however bumpy the road may be along the way. But rather than a people apart, blacks are woven into the united whole that makes this nation unique in history." -- from the rear outer jacket. "1776 Unites represents a nonpartisan and intellectually diverse alliance of writers, thinkers, and activists focused on solutions to our country's greatest challenges in education, culture, and upward mobility. We acknowledge that racial discrimination exists - and work toward diminishing it. But we dissent from contemporary groupthink and rhetoric about race, class, and American history that defames our national heritage, divides our people, and instills helplessness among those who already hold within themselves the grit and resilience to better their lot in life. 1776 Unites maintains a special focus on voices in the black community who celebrate black excellence, reject victimhood culture and showcase the millions of black Americans who have prospered by embracing the founding ideals of America. We are intellectuals, journalists, entrepreneurs, and grassroots activists, celebrating the progress America has made, the resilience of its people, and our future together. We seek decisive action in restoring our people's confidence and advancing the cause of actual justice in the face of hostile messages that degrade the spiritual, moral, and political foundations of our nation." -- from the inner front jacket flap. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Community activist Robert L. "Bob" Woodson has devoted his career to helping low-income people transcend their impoverished conditions. Woodson has used his own rise from poverty to assist him as the founder and president of the National Center for Neighborhood Enterprise (NCNE). Woodson received a prestigious "Genius Grant" from the MacArthur Foundation in 1990. He sits on the boards of the American Association of Enterprise Zones, the Commission on National and Community Service, and the Commonwealth Foundation. Woodson has also written extensively on issues of poverty and empowerment.

Mate & Sons, 1920-1935. -----"Mr Hill's treatise is a most remarkable production, both in its matter and ist manner. It is unprefaced, unpadded, impersonal. From the cryptic title page the reader passes straight to the first chapter and finds himself contemplating the whirling globe of the Earth revolving like the toothed wheel of a cosmic musical box, and producing a series of potential sound waves with a different rate of vibrations on each circle of latitude. Then, with massive and mathematical calm, Mr. Hill proceeds to work out the vibrations on each increasing parallel from pole to equator until he gets the great rising Earth chord - a dominant chord starting with C32 two degrees from the pole, the B flat coming in at 14 degrees What is so amazing is not that Mr. Mill does it, but that he does it so calmly. He does not argue; he makes no attempt to convince you: he is as unemotional as Euclid." (From "The Bookman", London; cited on p. 187). In the preface to Volume II the author reports on his efforts to produce a "piano of the future", a keyboard able to reproduce "a new musical scale of sixteen sounds to the octave in correct harmonic proportions" and his contacts with the leading manufacturers of pianos and organs in England, France and Germany. "One eminent firm went so far to make an experimental instrument which produced the scale roughly, and clearly demonstrated its rhythmical superiority, and the better tone quality of simple chords such as the triad and Dominant 7th, but even this firm could not be persuaded to proceed further to the production of a perfect instrument with the necessary precision of tuning." He was told that the development costs for such an instrument would be enormous. "Their only practical suggestion was 'to find a millionaire enthusiast who would finance the scheme': so it is at present held up, waiting for him to come along." ( Vol II, p. 14) - - Vols. II-IV are paginated throughot: Vol II, 151 p., 1927. - Vol III, pp. 153-336, 1 p., 1930. - Vol IV, pp 337-590, 1935. - - Bound with two pieces of music by Clarence S. Hill: 1) These are the glorious works (Words by Milton (from Paradise lost), Music by Clarence S. Hill. 6 p.
