Brown and gilt decorated three quarter leather with, flower device repeated four times, five raised ribs and marbled foredges and endpapers. The inscription is that of Barton Hoopes(1827-1895) partner in Hoopes & Townsend an important manufacturer of nuts and bolts in Philadelphia.
