31p. An interesting psychological play based on Judas Iscariot in three scenes: the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Trial. In this play Judas is presented as more complex with some second thoughts through the process. Most bibliographies on Judas include this play as one of the key items of a character whose name is often synonymous with the word traitor. The author inscribed this copy to Oliver Elton of Oxford in April 1930. Elton, of course, was the scholar whose six volume set of A Survey of English Literature (1730-1880) remains a dominant one in its depth and scholarship.
