Cloth. Condition: Very Good +. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. This 384-page, First Edition(I suspect) offering in VG-/VG- condition is Bear Bryant: Countdown To Glory(A Game-by-Game History of Bear Bryant's First 315 Victories) by James A. Peterson, Ph.D. and Bill Cromartie, published by Leisure Press in 1983. Not an ex-library copy, this book evidences some modest yellowing of text's pages, and some very light shelf wear at top and bottom edges of volume's spine. The dust jacket required some clear taping in 3-4 spots to help shore up the beginnings of small tears, mostly along edges, and, especially, at top and bottom edges of jacket's spine. From front inside jacket flap, ". Anyone who has ever met Bear Bryant knows that the 'Bear' is special. He's become a legend in the game and not just because of 'the record'. His commitment to excellence in all facets of the Alabama football program has become a symbol of all that is positive in competitive college athletics. [This book] is a chronicle, a statistical sourcebook, and a series of stories on the 315 record-setting victories by teams coached by Bear Bryant. People, stories, and numbers. that's the legacy of the greatness of [Bryant]." Beginning, on pages 12-14 of main text, with a complete listing of the final scores, including specific dates and sites, of all 315 wins, this book records/provides the highlights of every football game that a Bear Bryant-coached team won, covering his stints at the University of Maryland, the University of Kentucky, Texas A & M University, and, most notably of course, the University of Alabama. Includes also 8 pages of full color pictures of the Bear, not to mention 56 pages of black and white photographs of significant people in Bryant's life, as well as a large number of smaller reproductions of newspaper articles from sports pages documenting some of Bryant's most notable games along the way.For any serious Crimson Tide football fan, this volume is a must have, if it isn't already on your bookshelf. Thanks, and Roll, Tide!!.
