Horizontal pop-up book, 9-5/8" x 13-3/4," opening into a cross of buildings: a cottage, a church , school, shops, etc. It appears that the book originally came with several cut-out figures of people, which are missing here. There are two small spots of tape where the construction was fastened open, otherwise a nice, colorful copy that ties shut with a ribbon.

Comes with a perforated sheet of little people and animals to populate the scene. All figures are still on the sheet (none have been detached). When closed, the book measures approx. 13.75" long x 9.75" tall. When deployed, the village measures approx. 23" wide x 25" long x 10" tall. James Alfred Wight (1916-1995), writing under the pen name James Herriot, was an English veteriarian and author whose books inspired the hit TV series ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL.
