Program for the production at the Martin Beck Theatre starring Frank Langella.
Published by Nelson Doubleday, Inc. [1979], Garden City NY, 1979
Seller: ReadInk, ABAA/IOBA, Los Angeles, CA, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine dj. Book Club Edition. [beautiful copy, no discernible wear to either book or jacket]. "The Vampire Play," really? Like they have to remind us what Dracula's gig was? This printing ties in with the 1977-80 Broadway revival of the old chestnut, which starred a raven-tressed Frank Langella (pictured on the front jacket panel) biting the scenery as the immortal Count (and earning a Tony nomination in the process). Although there are no photos bound into the text, this copy includes the original Curtain Time (book club) flyer, which features four stills, plus a (not-very-good) reproduction of the Edward Gorey-illustrated poster. (Gorey also designed the sets and costumes for this production; it was even billed as "the Edward Gorey production," even though he wasn't, in fact, the producer.).

Seller: Clayton Fine Books, Shepherdstown, WV, U.S.A.
Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. Original script. v + 79 pages bound by a metal clip in two holes on the lefthand margin. Mimeographed. If this was originally issued in wrappers, only the rear wrapper remains. Light edgewear, but overall a fine example of an uncommon Dracula text. Deane and Balderston's play is the basis for both the Bela Lugosi movie and the later Frank Langella movie of Stoker's novel as well as the root source for many, if not most, Dracula adaptations. This script probably dates from between 1933 (the publication date of a Samuel French acting edtion) and 1938 (the production date of play by the Federal Art Project). Although a copy of the original poster for the 1938 production of the play is in the Library of Congress, we can find no copies of this script in any location.
