Otherwise, this is a solid Very Good copy in a price-clipped Good dust jacket, which has bumps with some chipping and tearing to the spine ends and corners, rubbing with small spots of staining to the covers, edge wear with short creased tears, and light creasing along the hinges. The jacket is wrapped in a Mylar cover.

Pages are virtually pristine and intact except for light age toning and minuscule wear to fore-edge. Covers are very clean and intact except for moderate rubbing to front and back on paper-covered boards and slight bumping on corners and edges. Binding is tight. A Fine copy. A concise history of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad (L&N) and its pivotal role in the Southern economy during the antebellum era, Civil War, and Reconstruction. The book is divided into four parts and moves chronologically through these three historical time periods and concludes with the expansion of the railroad. L&N was first established in 1850 and had many decades of financial success. It weathered the Civil War and the Great Depression and withstood many years of great social and technological changes. The L&N ceased operation in 1982 when it was fully absorbed by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad.
