Rear end paper has a tear across the top and rear flyleaf is creased. Front inner hinge is splitting. THERE IS A HEAVY IRREGULAR JAGGED TEAR IN THE GUTTER OF THE LEAF FOR PAGES 55/56. Thus, a reading or reference copy only. Inscription on the front end paper dated 1919 reads, "Thos. L. Chrisman / Univ. of Virginia." Illustrated with photographs.

There is a stain at the spine on the top page edges but it does not extend inside. Front endpaper has a faint crease from handling. Pages clean and unmarked.
