Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Study of the Macedonian monarchy ( Philip was the father of Alexander The Great). Justinus was a Roman historian circa 2nd-4th Century AD. This work is an abridgement of an earlier work of the same title by Trogus Pompeius - a Roman historian who lived circa 27 BC to 19 AD. A useful work due to the absence of the earlier work. Text is in Latin. Early leather binding with tooling & borders to corners & edges of boards. More recent leather spine with 4 raised bands & burgundy title label. All very sympathetically done. Warwickshire armorial bookplate - Lister Holte Of Aston (possibly Aston Hall). Engraved pictorial frontis states "Justini Hist. Libri XLIV & attractive vignette on title page which has red & black titles. Nice clean copy with minor unobtrusive mark to lower text block edge.
