Title in gold on cover in English and in Chinese calligraphy. Some light foxing to pages. Foreward by J. Leighton Stuart The first part is Madame Chaing Kai-Shek's story of this important incident in 1936 in which she was instrumental. Followed by Generalismo Kai-Shek's extracts from his diary. This is now known as the Xi'an incident during the Chinese civil war when Chaing Kai-Shek was captured by Marshall Zhang. Though Chaing was nearly executed a truce was instead agreed upon to combine forces to fight the Japanese.
