Book have red boards with gilt impressed floral design to top of front boards, titles in gilt to front and spine, slight colour fading to spines - titles unaffected. Vol 1 has some wear to spine-ends and corners, top corners a little curled inwards, right-angled snag to bottom front hinge/spine 2cm by 1cm. , very slight wear to spine-edges. Vol 2 has some wear to spine-ends, light wear to corners, slight flicking spots to surfaces, nick to top front hinge 5mm, 3 small abrasions to front outer hinge 3mm each . Both volumes have slight darkening to page-edges with some foxing, browning to endpapers with heavy foxing to these and next page adjacent (being half title and rear page of text), Vol 1 has some foxing to initial pages, Vol 2 has some foxing to index. Some very light foxing to a few page margins of both volumes. Vol 2 has its frontispiece and tissue free/detached . Paper crack to inner front hinge Vol 1. 8cm up showing cloth 4mm - superficial. Superb colour plates tipped in to both volumes. Text is very clean. Most attractive and substantial volumes. Very nice condition.
