A history of the land and the development of gardens for timber magnate and philanthropists Prentice Bloedel and his wife, Virginia (nee, Merrill), who had resided on the property since 1951. Published upon the opening of the gardens to the public. Mr. Bloedel was in the last year of his life when he put his shaky signature here under an assistant's inscription. Uncommon in hardcover; the dust jacket is now preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
