Cloth and leather fabricoid with gold gilt on spine, brown endpapers, 256 pp. A specially-bound, slipcased edition limited to 50 copies and includes an original colored drawing by Paul Laune. This is copy no. 18. Signed by Paul Laune. Laune, of Oklahoma, was an author, painter and illustrator, known for his book covers and for paintings he did of rural Western U.S. pioneer scenes. He covered pioneers, ranch-life and quarter horses in his paintings. He painted five murals for the Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum in his hometown of Woodward. Among the more famous works he illustrated, were books in the Hardy Boys Mystery Series. As new, unread copy housed in the original pictorial slipcase.
