First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: USED_VERYGOOD. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Gioia Fiammenghi (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). There are 506 books that come up on Abe that Gioia Fiammenghi illustrated. Five were signed, but None by her. So this will be the Only book for sale on the Internet that is signed by the illustrator. The inscription is to 'Carol', the daughter of Kermit and Pat Adler. It came from their home. Kermit Adler was also a book illustrator, as well as the former Creative Director at Lord and Taylor. The book has 12 full-page b&w illustrations and 1 smaller one. This is a very clean book. No soiling on the covers, although there is a little darkening at the very top edge of the front cover (see photo). The spine looks very good. There's a little bit of bending at the ends. The pages are very clean as well. There's a small erasure abrasion at the top of the front free end paper and a tiny pen mark on the verso of the half title page, an inadvertent jag from the illustrator who with the same pen signed and inscribed the top of the opposite page, the title page (see photo). After that the pages are perfect, quite bright, no soiling, no markings, no writing, no creases. The book is slightly cocked forward, although it is very well bound, no issues in that regard. The dust jacket is rated Good due to wear along the top edge of the front, spine, and back. As you can see from the first two photographs there are tiny spots of paper loss along these edges. There is also a little bit of wear at the bottom of the spine. The dust jacket is Not price-clipped, however the previous owner snipped a little bit of paper from the corner of each flap so it would fit in snugly. You may imagine, looking at the second photo, that there is a scuff at the middle of the spine. That is not the case, what you are seeing is part of the white cloud that is extended from the picture on the back cover. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover after the book is scanned. Inscribed by Illustrator(s).
