Diese Funktionen erfüllen die Abbildungen in unübertrefflicher Weise. (Prof. Leonhardt) Die Anatomie des Menschen von Rauber und Kopsch ist eines der traditionsreichsten medizinischen Lehrbücher. Seine "Urahnen" sind die klassischen Anatomiebände von Quain und Hoffmann aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Angesichts der großen Auswahl an modernen Anatomiebüchern stellt sich die FrageWelche Vorteile kann das insgesamt vierbändige Werk heute noch bieten? Wer sich ernsthaft mit der Anatomie beschäftigt hat und sich dabei auf diese homogene Einheit aus Lehrbuch und Atlas stützen konnte, wird über diese Frage nur lächeln. Es gibt kein anderes deutschsprachiges Werk, das den menschlichen Körperbau mit so viel Liebe zum Detail darstellt! Wo die anderen (weder in Anspruch noch Umfang vergleichbaren) Lehrbücher, etwa von Waldeyer, Benninghoff oder gar Lippert, lediglich auf die Möglichkeit von Varietäten hinweisen, liefert der Rauber/Kopsch Fakten -- und Bilder. Beispielsweise sind hier beim ersten Halswirbel nicht weniger als acht Formvarianten berücksichtigt. Da es keinen verbindlichen Bauplan des Menschen gibt, gängige Lehrbücher aber meist diesen Eindruck erwecken, kommt es in der Praxis immer wieder zu Verwechslungen und Missverständnissen. Wer mit dem Rauber/Kopsch lernt, ist vorbereitet und kann den Krankheitswert solcher Normabweichungen später besser einschätzen. Die lebensnahen Abbildungen der Knochen, Muskeln und Gelenke in diesem Band lassen keine Wünsche offen. In der Regel werden die Körperregionen bzw. -teile aus mehreren Perspektiven und in verschiedenen "Abtragungsstadien" gezeigt. Für den Vergleich mit dem Arbeitsgegenstand im anatomischen Präparierkurs ist das ideal. Das Buch sollte darum als Referenz mit in den Präpariersaal genommen werden, auch wenn es dafür zu kostbar erscheint. Feste Umschläge oder Folien können versehentliche Verschmutzungen verhindern. Die schematischen Skizzen und Diagramme versinnbildlichen Kraftflüsse und Bewegungsrichtungen. Der Text geht nicht nur auf die primären Aufgaben der Muskeln und Knochen ein, er erläutert auch ausführlich die Entwicklung des Skelettsystems, pathologische Befunde und Interaktionen mit Umwelteinflüssen. Dieses Lehrbuch der Anatomie des Menschen ist eine unschätzbare Hilfe bei der Arbeit in der Anatomie. Gibt es am Präpariertisch Streit, z. B. bei der Identifikation von Skelettbestandteilen, hilft das Buch fast immer weiter. Beim Erstellen von Referaten erspart man sich das Wälzen von zwei bis drei anderen Büchern, wenn man gleich zum Rauber/Kopsch greift. Was seine Aktualität angeht, so reicht das Werk zwar nicht an die neueste Ausgabe des Benninghoff heran. Dennoch ist dieser konsequente Gegenentwurf zu allen Kurzlehrbüchern mit ihren arg vereinfachenden Darstellungen das Nonplusultra der praktischen Anatomie. Der Rauber/Kopsch ist schon rein äußerlich recht imposant anmutend, und wenn man einmal in der Universitätsbibliothek oder im Buchladen einen der Bände durchblättert, wird einem gleich klar, weshalb er von vielen als die "Bibel der Anatomen" oder auch als "Mercedes unter den Lehrbüchern der Anatomie" bezeichnet wird. Ich bin der festen Überzeugung, dass es besonders später im Studium kaum ein Lehrbuch gibt, das StudentInnen derart viel Wissen vermitteln kann. Der Text ist gut und reichlich, die Abbildungen hervorragend. Jeder Student, der nicht über Tabellen, sondern sich die Anatomie lieber über den Text reinzieht, ist hier goldrichtig. Und eines muss man auch hervorhebenBis zu einem gewissen Grade kann der Rauber/Kopsch auch mit reinen Anatomieatlanten wie dem "Sobotta" oder dem guten, alten "Pernkopf" konkurrieren. Das bedeutet, dass man sich eventuell den Atlas sparen kann. Erst bei wirklich anspruchsvollen Leistungstestaten in höheren Semestern wird es ratsam sein, sich einen "Sobotta" zumindest auszuleihen. Alles in Allem ist der Rauber/Kopsch sicherlich ein Buch, das man nicht mehr wieder aus der Hand gibt, sofern man nicht das Studium wechselt. Prof. Dr. med. K.
