[LGBTQ] [Pulp] KIN, David George. Women Without Men: True Stories of Lesbian Love in Greenwich Village. New York: Brookwood Publishing Corp. 1958. First edition. Original cream boards with red title on spine, illustrated dust jacket in mylar wrapper. Lesbian pulp novels of the 1950s through the 1960s offer a glimpse into queer culture and served as guides for queer readers who learned the culture, terms, bars and other information from the texts. Kin, being a New York City native, wrote of the bohemian art scene of Greenwich Village and the sexual liberation of the era. The preface begins with a brief history of homosexuality from the age of the Egyptians and criticizes the puritan Western beliefs about the topic. The novel follows multiple lesbian characters, loosely based on the writer's experience living in Greenwich Village, and their exploits of love, passion, and sexuality. Minor edge wear to dust jacket which has been reinforced by matching paper. Not price clipped. Binding, text, and pages are crisp and clean. Overall very good condition.
