[LGBTQ] Miller, Isabel (pseudonym of Alma Routsong). The Love of Good Women. Mass market paperback with illustrated wrappers. Tallahassee: The Naiad Press, 1986. Octavo. 210 pages total. First Edition. The story sets place in the later years of World War II, with two women discovering a missing dimension within their lives: true love. As a result, this book highlights the efforts of escaping a "domestic prison", one in which a woman is confined to the bounds of her heterosexual marriage. By the end of the story, both women are liberated, coming to term with their lesbian identities. Routsong was a prolific lesbian novelist, later becoming a lesbian activist. In 1971, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table of the American Library Association created the first award for LGBTQ+ books, the Stonewall Book Award, which celebrates books of exceptional merit that relate to LGBTQ+ issues. Patience and Sarah by Routsong was the first winner. A powerful Lesbian novel, this book is in very good condition.
