Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an epic poem that chronicles the voyage of Vasco da Gama and his crew as they set out from Portugal in search of a sea route to India. The author, LuÃs de Camões, a Portuguese poet who lived in the 16th century, uses the journey as a framework to explore themes of honor, glory, and the human condition. The poem is considered a masterpiece of Portuguese literature and is widely regarded as one of the greatest epic poems ever written. Camões infuses the narrative with lyrical beauty and philosophical depth, reflecting on the nature of heroism, the limits of human knowledge, and the relationship between East and West. The Lusiads is not only a thrilling adventure story but also a profound meditation on the human experience and the meaning of history.
