Pieter Brueghel jr, Jacob de Gheyn, Jan van Goyen, van Ostade, Rubens, Jan Steen, David Teniers jr, etc. Collection of the early-modern art of eccentric Dutch art collector Cornelis Hoogendijk (1866-1911). Next to these older works, Hoogendijk's collection included 30 Cézanne's and 'a large batch of Van Goghs'. His collection was dispersed in the years after his admission to an asylum in 1900. Part of the collection was gifted to the Rijksmuseum. (see ao. First edition of this scarce and fascinating Edwardian catalogue on accessories and equipment for early automobiles and automobile travelers, with special focus on the upscale luxury market. The catalogue encompasses everything from Hearse table ornaments to curtain rollers; ornate art nouveau interior dome lights to cut glass silver mounted bouquet holders. In addition, they sold toilet cases, limousine megaphone speaking tubes, swing window fixtures, limousine side lamps, laces, hearse trimmings, and more. This offers an excellent historical record of luxury automobile travel in the early 20th century. C.M. Hoof continued to sell automobile accessories and fixtures well into the 1950s.
