Condition: Good. 1953. No Edition Remarks. 80 pages. Pictorial dust jacket over brown paper covered boards with white cloth to spine. Contains colour illustrated plates. Pages and plates are lightly tanned and foxed throughout. Minor pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Occasional thumb-marking present. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Light tanning to spine and edges. Unclipped jacket has moderate edge wear with chips, tears and creasing. Mild tanning to spine and edges. Dark rubbing and marking to surfaces, with scuffing to edges.

Ornate silver-coloured metal binding, fully covered, variously embellished, with Hebrew titles on front, alongside crown and ten commandments with six blue stones embedded. Also bears scenes from the Isreaelites' escape from Egypt. With 14 tipped-in colour illustrations. Metal a little scuffed here and there. Bright and clean interior. Text in both Hebrew and English, with several short explicatory passages in English as well. A stunning and uncommon copy. VG+/-- Pictures available upon request.

With a revised English translation and copious explanatory notes by Dr. Joseph Loewy and Joseph Guens. 106 pp plus; Arie Allweil, Allweil's Haggadah, Foreword by I. M. Lask. Pages are numbered from back to front. Rear board carries metal 6 1/2" X 8 1/2" decorative plate that is ornately relief detailed to show the Torah with lions on either side over a Hebrew inscribed banner, as well as the symbols of the 12 tribes of Isreal and other writing and raised decorations. This is attached to the rear board by an 8" X 10 1/4" 3 level white plastic rectangle affixed to the book by 6 raised round brads. 6 blue stones are used, 2 in the Torah and 4 in the crown above it. Boards are vertically grained to look like wood, all three edges are dyed orange with white headbands. Book weighs over 3 lb. and will require extra shipping. ep's are beginning to loosen from plastic. Text block is tight and square. Of the 17 illustrations, sizes vary from 3/8" X 11 1/2" to 3 3/4" X 8 3/4". Many are signed and all are loosely top-glued to their respective pages. # 17, ' Landscape in Galilee ' is dated 1957, and there are 2 copies of ' Had Gadia' glued over top of each other in what is probably a production fault.
