Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the co-author Jack Maguire who participated in the research and wrote the final draft of the book. The inscription reads: 'To Julie Clark, with best regards, Jack Maguire, 4/10/89.' You can see the black covers of the book in the photos. They are exceptionally clean. The gilt lettering on the front and spine is quite bright and free of wear. The six cover edges look pretty much perfect. Same goes for the corners. The spine ends look very good as well. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I haven't found any instances of soiling. The white inside covers and end papers look perfectly clean as well. The pages are in quite solid condition, but at some point in time the top corner of the textblock must've gotten slightly bent inward. Although no pages are currently bent inward at all, there is the same crease at the top corner of all the pages, lightening somewhat as they move forward, but still visible up until the last 30 or so pages. For this reason, I've priced this very uncommon book quite inexpensively. The crease does not ever touch the print. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And with the exception of the co-author's signed inscription no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. There are great many illustrations, mainly photographs, throughout the book. They all look to be in excellent condition. The dust jacket is a very solid one. You can see it in the first few photos. It's quite clean. There are no tears. No wear at the edges or corners. None at the spine ends. There is a very thin scratch just off the middle edge on the rear cover, nothing very conspicuous. One other thing I would bring to your attention: if you hold the jacket under a light you'll see a large number of silver flecks. I can't say I've ever seen that before. I'm quite certain it's not soiling because it's everywhere. My guess is that it has something to do with the finish on the jacket and if that's the case it would be present on every jacket. Again, you won't see it unless you turn it so that the light from a lamp is hitting it directly. When so, it doesn't look bad, just silver flecked, the equivalent of a person with silver freckles. Finally, the flaps are in solid shape, the front one has a slight bit of crinkling in one spot. The rear one has a thin crease off its bottom corner. There isn't any conspicuous soiling, just one tiny silverish spot near the bottom edge of the front flap. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a (large) protective cover after the photos are taken. Signed by Author(s).
