Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine dj. 1st (limited) edition. [very light shelfwear to book; jacket is flawless]. (B&W and color photographs) An elaborately-produced compendium of photographs of the great Hollywood sex goddess of the 1930s ("and for quite a few decades after that," she probably would have said), coupled with "stories and quotes that span her entire life," gathered by author Malachosky in his capacity as Miss West's "private secretary, confidant and friend" during the last ten years of her life. While its generally anecdotal nature doesn't quite add up to its self-proclamation as "the definitive book on Mae West," it's nonetheless invaluable for the richness and authenticity of its account of her personality, by a man who unquestionably knew her well and was instrumental in collecting and preserving a great deal of her personal memorabilia after her death. (Many of the items from Mr. Malachosky's collection were auctioned by Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles in November 2019.) Of a stated edition of 2,000 copies, this is copy #896, and is SIGNED by both authors on the limitation page, which also bears a FACSIMILE signature of Mae West herself. (That's in ALL CAPS to keep you from being fooled, in case it slips your mind that Miss West passed away thirteen years before this book was published, and was therefore, as the saying goes, no longer signing.) Also laid in to this copy is a small note, typewritten on Mae West's pink stationery and signed by author Malachosky. ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this large and heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order. As always, domestic U.S. shipping via Media Mail is FREE at ReadInk.**** Signed by All Authors.
