Los Surrealistas se sumaron al congreso con la intención de sumar fuerzas contra la ascensión de fascismo en Europa, sin embargo lo que realmente sucedió fue la ruptura definitiva con el Partido Comunista Francés, con en que arrastraba unas difíciles desde la salida de Louis Aragon del movimiento surrealista en 1932.

This charming, elaborately designed and produced exhibition catalogue cum artist's book was published in conjunction with a 1949 show of sixty-six works executed between 1918 and 1948 by renowned Dada and Surrealist artist Max Ernst at the Beverly Hills gallery of William Nelson Copley - a.k.a artist Cply. The first portion - "At Eye Level" - contains brief Surrealist and Ernst-related texts and quotes by a stellar array of artists and literary figures that includes Andre Breton, Piet Mondrian, Rene Crevel, Paul Eluard, Dorothea Tanning, J.F.P., Benjamin Peret, Man Ray, Robert Desnos, and Nicolas Calas. The second - "Paramyths" - is a series of eight poems and collages executed by the artist especially for this volume. A handsome, tightly bound example of this fragile, uncommon item limited to five hundred and thirteen copies NUMBERED (121/513) in ink on the rear colophon, as issued, showing some typical soiling and slight discoloration to its matte, textured boards, unobtrusive mottling to the blue cloth of the spine, and a small area of surface paper abrasion to the rear board. Internally, there is a tiny bit of mild foxing to a few pages throughout along with occasional discoloration and perished glue at the gutter of some of the pages. Artist Monograph.

Publicación con texto firmado por por los miembros del grupo surrealista (Maxime Alexandre, Aragon, André Breton, René Char, René Crevel, Salvador Dali, Paul Éluard, Georges Malkine, Benjamin Péret, Man Ray, Georges Sadoul, Yves Tanguy, André Thirion, Pierre Unik, Albert Valentin) que expone los ataques violentos acaecidos el día 3 de diciembre de 1030 en el cine Studio 28 de París cuando un grupo de personas pertenecientes a la Ligue des Patriotes y de la Ligue Anti-Juive (anti-judíos) irrumpieron el la proyección de la película de Luis Buñuel "L'Age d'Or" (La edad de Oro), vandalizando el cine y sacando a los espectadores a la calle. Destruyeron además numerosas obras de arte de Dalí, Ernst, Tanguy, Miró que estaban colgadas en el vestíbulo de la sala. También este texto hace un resumen de los ataques de la prensa conservadora contra la película, y al final incluye un cuestionario cuyas respuestas había que enviar a André Breton a su domicilio de París se compones de un díptico de 27 x 19 cm (cerrado)/ 27 x 39 cm (abierto) y una hoja suelta del mismo tamaño de papel satinado con fotografías de los destrozos y fotogramas de la película.
