Giovanni Mardersteig's talk, "Laudatio auf Hermann Zapf," was given in Mainz on June 24, 1974 upon the occasion of the awarding of the Gutenberg Prize to Hermann Zapf. Zapf's article, "In Memoriam Giovanni Mardersteig," originally appeared in the Gutenberg-Jahrbuch 1978, a year after Mardersteig's death. These pieces are both translated into English from the German by Margaret L. Ford.
