    Half-Leather. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Small folio (263 x 187 mm., 10-3/8 x 7-3/8 in.): lithographed title page in old Serbian Cyrillic alphabet (see attached photos), 12 double-page lithographed tables containing 231 figures of mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, sea creatures, insects, and plants. Bound in publsher's printed stiff paper wraps, with edges reinforced with red leather (plates a little frayed along edges and occasionally splitting at gutter but holding, esp. table IV on birds). VERY RARE 19TH CENTURY SERBIAN CHILDREN'S BOOK ON NATURAL HISTORY BY PIONEERING SERBIAN SCIENCE EDUCATOR VUK MARINKOVIC, NO COPIES RECORDED IN OCLC/WORLDCAT. Dr. Vuk Marinkovic was one of the earliest professors of physics at the University of Belgrade and lectured there from 1849 until his death in 1859. He is credited for also authoring in 1851 the first Serbian physics textbook, Nacela fizike za svoe ucenike, a i za samouke (i.e., Principles of physics for all students, and for self-learners).
