A new edition, revised and corrected. liii, 407 pages. Perhaps the best 19th century edition after the small Pickering edition done in 1836. Edward Moxon the publisher allowed several corrections from earlier editions. Both Wordworth and Alfred Lord Tennyson wanted him to publish their works (Tennyson even allowing a small author's stipend in exchange for input on the design of his books). The publication of the works of Marlowe was the culmination of his career as he died in the year of publication (DNB). Clean, very readable text. Bound in an early 20th binding of 3/4 tan polished calf over light brown cloth, raised bands gilt, leather spine label gilt and some light wear to head, wear through to corners, damp stain along bottom edges but not penetrating through to pages, previous owner's bookplate. A very good copy.
