After the doctor is murdered, Ashton-Kirk learns he had possession of a military secret, and the Secretary of State tasks him with finding the secret before other countries do and avert a diplomatic disaster. Basis for the 1915 silent movie "An Affair of Three Nations" starring Arnold Daly as Ashton-Kirk. Bumped and rubbed with light wear at the edges and fraying to the ends of the darkened spine. Previous owner's bookplate and name on the front end papers, dated Oct. 18, 1912. Hinges just a bit loose, all plates present.
