Together with his former students, Van den Meersch was the driving force behind a new movement in Belgian Limburg that would thus find a connection with the international art scene. In 1972 the movement ceased to exist. The close-knit group consisting of Hugo Duchateau, Jos Jans, Hélène Keil, Jan Withofs and Dré Sprankenis was characterized by a search for innovation and expression of great creativity. Social commitment was also an important characteristic of the art group. This was expressed by building a wall in the Shopping Center in Genk and creating an environment in a company in Zonhoven.
