Encuadernación de tapa dura. Condition: Nuevo. Dust Jacket Condition: Nuevo. A key figure of the 20th century: a little-known artist whose work developed over the short span of fourteen years. A French sculptor of Spanish origin, González lived in Paris and was a friend of Picasso and Brancusi. Working almost exclusively with beaten and cut metal, he first used this technique to create a series of faces and masks in an extremely synthetic style, similar to certain modules of cubism and African art. In the 1930s-40s his sculptures were slender, branching structures, abstract or portraying stylized female figures or surreal plant-men . This monograph, thanks to its bibliographic references, listing of exhibitions and collections, cataloguing of unpublished works and photographic documentation, as well as analysis of the chronological development of the artist, is an indispensable source of information for specialists and art lovers on a little-known artist.
