Bright, clean, square, tight, unmarked copy. Sharp corners. No owner's name or bookplate. No remainder mark. Not a book club edition. Not price clipped (3.00). Frontispiece portrait of Wurmbrand. Introduction by Dr. Nahum Goldman. Michael Wurmbrand (1879-1952) grew up in Sadagura, Romania (In Yiddish: Sadagera). He achieved success as a poet, journalist, editor, and playwright. From 1922-1940 he was the Jewish Telegraphic Agency's Berlin correspondent for New York and London. In the early days of the Hitler regime, he courageously sent out the news in the face of Nazi intimidation. In 1940 he escaped the Nazis by emigrating to America. According to a biographical profile contained in this volume "From 1945-1952 he worked for the Aufbau, contributing countless articles on political and social questions, especially on Palestine before the State of Israel was proclaimed, and afterwards on Israel." Among his most popular books are: Between the Hammer and Sickle; Christ or the Red Flag; Jesus to the Communist World; The Primordial Breath (translator); etc. The book begins with tributes from 6 of Wurmbrand's closest friends, including his son-in-law, H. W. B. Skinner, the noted British physicist. The second half of the book has a well balanced sampling of Wurmbrand's own creative writings. Original blue cloth, decorated in dark blue.
