Rear inner hinge thinly cracked, but holding. In a very good dust jacket with a few very small short tears to extremities. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED on the half-title page: "For Jean Penland with thanks for a lovely tour of your studio and your print. Harriet & Walter Michel." The inscription is in Harriet's hand (she was the wife of the book's author, Walter Michel). Laid in is an effusive 3-page (double-sided) handwritten letter, from Harriet to Jean Penland, with the original envelope. The letter discusses art and some personal matters. The recipient, Jean Penland, was an Asheville, NC-based artist, poet, and printmaker. An appealing copy of this excellent reference work on Lewis.
