Hard Cover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Included. First Edition. First edition, first printing. Inscribed by Mantle on half-title page. Publisher's black cloth-backed red paper-covered boards, with titles in silver foil to spine; in its original white dust jacket, with R. B. Boris' close-up photograph of Mantle's jersey to front panel, lettered in red and black. Fine book; a touch of wear to spine ends and a tiny bit of creasing to top of front flap, else fine unclipped dust jacket. With a Beckett LOA. Overall, a very lovely copy. Mickey Mantle played his entire eighteen-year career with the New York Yankees, alongside other legendary players like Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, and Whitey Ford. Plagued by injuries throughout much of his career, Mantle nevertheless became an all-time great, winning three MVP awards (1956, 1957, 1962) and the Triple Crown in 1956. He also helped power the Yankees to seven World Series titles. Mantle was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1974 and was selected for the prestigious All-Century Team in 1999. From the front flap of The Mick: "The book abounds with those memories of when Mantle was the toast of the town. More than that, though, it movingly recounts the private events of his remarkably public life; from his humble beginnings, to his personal triumphs in and out of baseball, to the tragedy that haunts four generations of his family.". This is a fun and interesting signed limited edition - each copy uniquely corresponds to each of the 536 home runs Mantle hit in his illustrious career. This copy is in fine condition, in a red cloth binding as issued without a dustjacket, and being a different binding than the regular trade edition. Fine condition with no flaws. COPY #419 COMMEMORATING MANTLE'S 419th HOME RUN. Mantle hit homer 419 on Sept. 21, 1963 at Yankee Stadium off Moe Drabrowsky of the Kansas City A's. It was his 15th and final home run of the season, his lowest output excepting his rookie season. Mantle clubbed this one in the second inning, a solo shot to right field. He would hit one home run in the World Series that year. Mantle injured his foot in June of 1963 and ended up playing in only 65 games.
