The Little Lame Prince and His Traveling Cloak is a classic children's book written by Miss Mulock. The story revolves around a young prince who is born with a physical disability, rendering him unable to walk. Due to his condition, the prince is often isolated and unhappy. However, he is gifted a magical cloak that allows him to travel to different places in the world. With the help of his cloak, the prince embarks on a series of adventures, meeting new people and making friends along the way. Through his travels, the prince learns valuable life lessons and gains a new perspective on his own condition. The book is a heartwarming tale of resilience, friendship, and the power of imagination. Miss Mulock (pseudonym of Dinah Maria Mulock Craik) tells the children's story about a healthy baby prince who is dropped by a careless nurse enroute to his christening; when both his parents die, he is at the mercy of his ambitious uncle who has him secreted away to a lonely tower on a barren plain. The young crippled prince must then reclaim his kingdom from his evil uncle, with the help of a magic cape from his godmother.

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. The Adventures of a Brownie(As Told To My Child) by Miss Mulock was published by A. Flanagan Company, Chicago, in, I'm guessing/estimating, somewhere between 1895-1920! (My guess of 1900 is just that, a guess. It has that look.) Not an ex-library copy, this approximately 4 3/4" X 6 7/8", 262-page, almost certainly over 100-year-old offering is in G+ condition(however old it actually is). There is light browning/yellowing of endpapers front and back as well as text's pages, random, marginal, light foxing on a number of pages throughout, and a brief gift Inscription near the top of the front loose end page. Very modest shelf wear is observed at top and bottom edges of offering's spine as well as at the four outer tips of front and back cover boards(the ORIGINAL BOARDS, I must add). Miss Mulock(Dinah Maria Mulock Craik), 1826-1887, was also the author of such extremely popular(in her day) stories as "The Little Lame Prince" and "John Halifax Gentleman". Seen throughout this delightful collection of six(6) brief tales featuring an impish little Brownie(whose main goal in life, it would seem, is to make the lives of any and all children around him merrier by joining in, or instituting, if necessary, their play time) are some eighteen(18), period, black and white line Drawings, by Artist Unknown, I'm sorry to say. IN ADDITION TO THE BROWNIE STORIES, there are seven(7) more tales to be enjoyed, by kids of all ages: "The Fair One With Golden Locks"; "Little Snowdrop"; "The Juniper Tree"; "The Woodcutter's Daughter"; "The Bluebird"; "The Yellow Dwarf"; and, lastly, "Brother and Sister". Interestingly, these seven stories are not adorned by any illustrations/drawings. NOTE: Should you be a serious collector of the works of Diana Craik/Miss Mulock, and are perhaps seeking a cleaner, firmer, more sound copy of this collection of her stories (actually, if you're still reading, you probably know much, much more concerning the details/aspects of this offering than I ever could), this book may well be of serious interest to you, Reader. Thank you!!.
