Seller: Avenue Victor Hugo Books, Newmarket, NH, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Good. First thus. This scarce original edition is offered despite some significant flaws. Six complete original issues bound without covers and advertisements. Quarto, 9 1/2" tall, 670 pages, rebound in blue cloth. A good, generally clean, sturdy, hardcover copy overall with moderate exterior shelf wear and rubbing at the corners, foxing and soiling to the cover cloth and fore-edges, rear hinge cracked but secure and interior binding cracked once but secure, though a single page is pulled loose (does not affect the Doyle stories), and light foxing to the endpapers. It was the common practice for monthly periodicals at this time to issue bound volumes of the previous six issues, printed from the original plates, before melting the plates down for recasting.
