With the author's presentation inscription to Day P. Le Grice, son of the writer C. V. Le Grice at the head of the title-page. * Rev. Henry Moule (1801-1880) was appointed Vicar of Fordington in Dorset in 1829 and remained there for the rest of his life. He was very concerned about the poor housing and sanitation conditions within his parish which he worked diligently to ameliorate. This collection of letters to Prince Albert sought to improve the amenities at Fordington. In connection with his work on sanitation reform Moule is credited with the invention of the dry-earth closet.
